About Hammers And Nuts

The Obama Doctrine was spelled out very clearly by Obama when he used the metaphor, 'Just because we have the best hammer does not mean that every problem is a nail'. Predictably, this approach to foreign policy  raised the hackles of his militaristic critics. They came out of the woodwork to scream bloody hell that Obama's foreign policy will raise havoc with our security. This notwithstanding that the man did not suggest hammering our swords into plowshares. In defending himself, Obama would do well to remember that 'a sledge hammer should not be used to crack a nut'. To go after them with hammer and tongs is a no win situation. A tack hammer should be sufficient to do the job.
