On Boozing

The abuse of booze can be described in many colorful terms. They range from the benign looped to the colorful three sheets to the wind. If you want to make a stink about someone's drinking habits, you refer to him as drunk as a skunk. A sloppy boozer can get as sloppy as a soup sandwich or sloshed. Perhaps the most descriptive cliche for one in his cups is that he is pissed to the gills. A pitiful drinker is doomed to becoming plastered or smashed. In the long run it is better to hold your drinks rather than to tie one on.
